IETab gets stuck and will not browse any sites

Postby keithforever » Fri Sep 11, 2009 10:04 am

Using 1.2.3.
I cannot give you exact steps to reproduce but this issue happens when using IEtab.
When using IETab, sometimes if that tab launches other IETabs, when you return to that original IETab, you can no longer browse any site in that tab. The URL in the address bar will change to the site you are trying to access via bookmarks but nothing happens. Refresh fails to work and pressing enter on the address bar fails as well. Have to close that tab and open another to fix.

I have more information for you that should help reproduce this issue. The issue with IETab appears to be if you browse to a website that pops up another IEtab that asks for information with a CLOSE button, once you click that close button, normally the tab should close. Instead, the page turns to a blank white page. The tab then become unusable and no other site can be loaded on that tab. You have to manually close it.

For example, I just went to compusa.com using IETab. It popped up a window that asked if I would like to take a survey. I responded YES. It then opened another IETab. After the survery, I clicked the close button and the issue occurred. Hope this helps.

I am no programmer but perhaps this is a Javascript Close tab/window command that is not working with IETab??

Hi ChromePlus,

Do you have an idea when this issue will be corrected? It is a problem for me with Company intranet sites that need IE to work properly.

Thanks!

IMHO, for our current situation, we may only have time to make this improvement at least after 1 month.

Well we have 3 people using here at work. We use an IE only product for our CRM and this pops up extra tabs each time something is selected so we end up with many white tabs that we have to manually close which should be automatically closing. More of a inconvenience than anything.

I would like to add that many more would use ChromePlus at work but this issue is too much for them to make the switch from FireFox with IETab addon. I might have to go back to FireFox because of this at work since it is adding too much manual work to be productive. When the worthless tabs multiply when they should be closed automatically, it causes too much manual work to manually close so many to be productive. So I request that this be fixed as quickly as possible to make your product more useful to people that want to take advantage of the IETab functionality which I assume is the reason many are using it in the first place. Thank you for anything you can do to expedite a fix.

In addition, we get instant messages and emails to links that require IE all day long at work. These never open in IETab even though the URL is in our list to use IETab. I also consider this a showstopper for widespread use of ChromePlus.

Hi keithforever, Since you have such a high demand on this, we'll increase the priority of your requirement in our dev queue.
Just need to confirm. Could I understand your request this way that, the current IE tab could not be closed by javascript:window.close() and you asked to fix this bug earlier? :)
